Wisdom from the Indian Code of Ethics
(Many words, little space. So I choose carefully
and these are my chosen excerpts only)

* Every morning upon rising, and each evening
before sleeping, give thanks for the gift of life
within you, and for all of life.

*Be thankful for all the good the Creator has given you.

*Showing respect is a basic law of life.

*Treat every person from the smallest child to the
oldest elder with respect at all times.

*Respect the privacy of every person, never intrude
on anothers' private time.

*Treat the earth as your mother. Do nothing to pollute
our Mother, use wisdom to defend her.

*Listen with your heart.

* Be truthful at all times, and under all conditions.

*Always treat your guests with honor.
Give them your best, for their use.

*The pain of one is the pain of all,
the honor of one is the honor of all.

*Learn about what leads to your well-being,
and also the things that lead to your destruction.

*Be still and hear the lessons given to your heart.
Expect wisdom in prayer, dreams, in solitude,
and in the words and deeds of Elders and wise friends.

We were given the honor of caring for
the earth and all living things.
Simply go to the stream, and listen.
The wisdom will come.

Beautiful Words of Wisdom

"Give Thanks"

When you arise in the morning
Give thanks for the morning light,
For your life and strength.
Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.
And if you see no reason for giving thanks,
The fault lies in yourself.

Tecumseh

"Cherokee Prayer Blessing"

May the warm winds of heaven
Blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit
Bless all who enter there.
May your moccasins
Make happy tracks in many snows.
And may the rainbow
Always touch your shoulder.

"Purpose"

Everything on the earth has a purpose
Every disease an herb to cure it
And every person a mission.
This is the Indian theory of existance.
